Sharing & Access

Share your chatbot like a document: every chatbot has a permanent URL, and you decide who can use it.

https://chat.illinois.edu/<chatbot-name>

Open Sharing and Access on the Dashboard to change these settings.

Access level

Option in the dialog Who can chat
Private (only invited members) (default) Only the owner, administrators and the members you list.
All logged-in users Anyone signed in to the site.
Public (anyone with the link) Anyone with the URL, no login required.

Public chatbots expose your documents indirectly

A public chatbot will answer questions using your uploaded materials and cite passages from them. Don't make a chatbot public if its documents shouldn't be visible to the world.

Members and administrators

The dialog has two lists of email addresses:

  • Members can chat when the access level is Private. The list is ignored for the other two levels.
  • Administrators can edit every builder screen; see the roles table.

Both lists are allow-lists of full email addresses matched exactly — there is no domain wildcard, and adding an address does not send an invitation. Tell people the chatbot's URL yourself.

Analytics on shared chatbots

Once shared, the Analysis page shows how users interact with your chatbot — see Analysis & exports.
